1968, Television: Oh, Brother!

On 13 September 1968, "The Voice of the Turtle", the first episode of "Oh, Brother!", was broadcast on BBC1. This British situation comedy was written by David Climie and Austin Steele. The principal roles were played by Derek Nimmo, Felix Aylmer and Derek Francis. Between 1968 and 1970, a total of 19 episodes, each lasting 30 minutes, were produced.

Trivia

  • Only eight episodes have survived the BBC’s wiping policy: episode S01E01 and all episodes from series three.
  • In 2020, a short clip from the missing series two episode "In the Beginning" was discovered in the VRT archives (formerly BRT). The clip was featured in the television programme "Ziet u er wat in".
  • The series was followed by the sequel "Oh, Father!" in 1973.
