"Hud", an American
western film, premiered on May 28, 1963. The title refers to an
embittered and selfish modern-day cowboy Hud Bannon. The screenplay
was written by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank, Jr., based on Larry
McMurtry's 1961 novel "Horseman, Pass By", it was directed by
Martin Ritt. The main stars are Paul Newman, Melvyn Douglas, Patricia
Neal and Brandon deWilde.
Synopsis
Hud Bannon (Paul Newman), a ruthless
young man who tarnishes everything and everyone he touches,
represents the perfect embodiment of alienated youth, out for kicks
with no regard for the consequences. There's a bitter conflict
between the callous Hud and his stern and highly principled father,
Homer (Melvyn Douglas)...
