The American comedy
film "The Nutty Professor" is released on 4 June 1963. The
film directed and partly written by Jerry Lewis, stars himself,
Stella Stevens, Del Moore and Kathleen Freeman. With music composed
by Walter Scharf, the film is a parody of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde".
Synopsis
Professor Julius
Kelp (Jerry Lewis) is a nerdy, socially awkward university professor
of chemistry whose experiments are most of the time very destructive.
When a football student embarrasses and attacks him, he joins a local
gymnasium. But due to the lack of physical strength he decides to
invent a potion that turns him into the handsome Buddy Love...

- In 2004 "The Nutty Professor" was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
