1966, Cars: Ford Taunus 12M/15M (P6)

In September 1966 Ford-Werke GmbH (Ford of Germany) introduced the new Ford Taunus 12M / 15M. It was the sixth newly designed German Ford to be launched after the war for this reason it is known as Ford Project 6 (P6) or the Ford Taunus P6.

The front wheel drive car was available as a two or four door saloon, a "Turnier" (station wagon) and a coupé. The Taunus 12M was available with two engine choices, a 1183 cc V4 water-cooled (1966- 1968) and a 1305 cc V4 cylinder water-cooled. The Taunus 15M was offered with a 1498 cc V4 cylinder water-cooled engine or a 1699 cc V4 cylinder water-cooled engine (from 1967). All cars had a four-speed all-synchromesh manual gear box with a column-mounted lever. From February 1968 a floor-mounted lever was available as an option. The 15M was differentiated by its grill and rectangular headlights / rear light clusters from the 12M which had round front lights and extended lozenge rear lights.
