1962, Sport: Jacques Anquetil - Tour de France 1962

The French cyclist Jacques Anquetil wins the Tour de France on July 15, 1962 for the third time. For the first time “The Tour” was contested by trade teams instead of national teams. The Belgian Jef Planckaert placed second, and Raymond Poulidor was third. It was the 49th Tour de France, taking place from June 24 to July 15, 1962. It consisted of 22 stages over 4274 km.
