From 15 to 18 February 1973, the 28th World Three-Cushion Championship was held in Cairo, Egypt. Raymond Ceulemans secured his eleventh consecutive World Championship title, a record that still stands today. Fittingly, he also raised the world record for the general average (GA) to 1.478. The gulf in class between Ceulemans and the rest of the field was striking: no other player managed to achieve a general average of 1.000 or higher.
