In November 1972 Italian auto-maker Fiat introduced the X1/9 a two-seater mid-engined sports car. The X1/9 was developed from the 1969 Autobianchi A112 Runabout concept, with styling by Bertone by chief designer Marcello Gandini. The 1,290 cc engine was derived from the Fiat 128 Coupé 1300.
