In the first episode, the team is escaping by air following a spying mission in China. Their stolen aircraft, damaged by gunfire during the getaway, crashes in the Himalayas. They are rescued by the inhabitants of Shangri-La, an advanced civilisation living in secret in the mountains of Tibet. From Shangri-La, they receive enhanced abilities, including extrasensory powers that allow them to communicate telepathically and to foresee future events...

Albert discovers the finger and rushes to the police station to report the incident to Detective Constable Slobotham (Peter Butterworth), who in turn informs his superior, Detective Sergeant Sidney Bung (Harry H. Corbett), who has been investigating similar disappearances in the same area.

While searching the woods, the policemen stumble upon the Bide-A-Wee Rest Home and are shown into the sitting room by the butler, Sockett (Bernard Bresslaw).
