1966, Film: Kaleidoscope

On 8 September 1966, the American–British comedy adventure film Kaleidoscope premiered at the Warner Theatre in London. The film was directed by Jack Smight from a screenplay by Robert Carrington and Jane-Howard Hammerstein, with an original score composed by Stanley Myers. The starring roles were played by Warren Beatty, Susannah York, Clive Revill, and Eric Porter.

Synopsis
Barney Lincoln (Warren Beatty) is a young playboy who devises the ultimate scheme to cheat the casinos. He breaks into the playing card manufacturer and marks the kaleidoscopic pattern on printing plates for the cards. Afterwards he wins at several casinos across Europe. But Barneys troubles begin when he falls in love with fashion designer Angel McGinnis (Susannah York) her father, Manny McGinnis (Clive Revill), is a Scotland Yard inspector who offers Barney a deal. He will keep quiet about the cards if Barney helps him catch international drug smuggler Harry Dominion (Eric Porter)…

Trivia
Sandra Dee was originally cast as the female lead. However, director Jack Smight felt that she was not convincing in the role of a British woman, and she was subsequently released from her contract. Susannah York was cast as her replacement.
