The story was pre-published in the newspapers "De Standaard" and "Het Nieuwsblad" from 22 August 1959 to 31 December 1959. Synopsis
After
the adventure in Texas, Theofiel Boemerang and Celestien come
to live next door
to
Aunt Sidonia. Lambik receives a letter from the V.D.V., but the light
is turned off and the letter is
gone.
Aunt Sidonia asks Lambik to take care of her garden and discovers
that Theophiel's chickens eat the grain from her garden…

- When Jerom (Jethro) hears that Christopher Columbus discovered America, he says: "Always thought that it was Marnix Gijsen", a reference to Gijsen's book "Discover America" (1927), as well as Gijsens' radio program “De Stem uit Amerika”.
