On 26 September 1970, issue no. 390 of the youth magazine Ohee! featured the Brian Howell story "Opdracht in de jungle" ("Assignment in the Jungle"). The comic series Brian Howell was created in 1969 by artist Sylvain Polfliet and writer Hector Leemans. After three stories, Leemans decided to step away, and Polfliet continued the series on his own. The first stories were published in the newspapers Het Volk and Gazet van Antwerpen.

Five Brian Howell stories appeared in Ohee! between 1970 and 1974. Between 1984 and 1988, six albums were published by Loempia. In 2022, a final album, "Het Ozon Syndicaat" ("The Ozone Syndicate"), was released in a limited edition by publisher Sascha Van Laeken.
The stories centre on Brian Howell, a secret agent working for the I.S.A. (International Security Agency). In the early adventures he operates alone, but in later stories he is joined by Samantha, Peter, and Jack.
