"True Grit", an American western
film written by Marguerite Roberts and directed by Henry Hathaway,
was released June 11the 1969. It is an adaptation of the novel by the
same title written by Charles Portis in 1968. The main character
Marshal Rooster Cogburn is played by John Wayne, he won an Academy
Award for his performance in this film. He reprised the role in the
1975 sequel "Rooster Cogburn". The supporting cast features Glen
Campbell, Kim Darby, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper and Strother
Martin.
Synopsis
The murder of her father sends Mattie
Ross, (Kim Darby) on a mission of "justice", which involves
avenging her father's death. She recruits a tough old marshal,
"Rooster" Cogburn (John Wayne), because he has a reputation
of getting the job done. The two are joined by a Texas Ranger, La
Boeuf, (Glen Campbell)...
